Introducing Invisible Engine

The definition of brilliant...

“While Invisible Engine was originally formed to produce The Prototype, a full-length feature film (finished and on its way to festivals), we now choose to bide our time by making offensive short films with the expensive movie equipment left over from production.”

Invasion of the Bee Girls

"""""

Following in the tradition of the great "mad scientist messes with sex" movies, here is Invasion of the Bee Girls, written by Nicholas Meyer, who would later go on to write and direct the best Star Trek movie ever.

When the men in town begin turning up dead by "sexual overexertion," the trail leads to a mad scientist transforming women into vicious "Bee Girls" who kill men by screwing them to death. Rather than go into the plot any further, I'm going to just quote a bit from this review:

The film's finest moment, which hits a perfect note of apotheosis in exploitation movie poetry, is a scene where the bee women coat a topless women in honey and place her in a radiation machine, where she is entirely covered in bees to then emerge with dark eyes, whereupon all the women start caressing their breasts to the accompaniment of classical music.

Watch for porn star Sharon Kelly's cameo as "Nude bee girl on motorcycle," in the trailer.

Glasses for a Housefly

""""
March 28, 2006—Pampering pets with designer goods isn't so unusual—and now even your houseflies can get outfitted in style.

An entry in a German science-photo competition, this image shows a fly sporting a set of "designer" lenses crafted and set in place with a cutting-edge laser technique. The glasses fit snuggly on the fly's 0.08-inch-wide (2-millimeter-wide) head.

Manufacturing firm Micreon GmbH submitted the insect's picture for the Bilder der Forschung (Photos of Science) 2005 competition. Selected images were on display last week in a Munich shopping center.

Micreon, based in Hannover, Germany (see map), created the fly's eyewear using ultrafast laser micro-machining. The firm notes on its Web site that the process can create objects with high precision at scales of less than a thousandth of a millimeter.
